How Can You Prevent Impetigo?
Antibiotic creams and tablets can cure impetigo, but preventing the infection from spreading or returning is also important.
Wash hands regularly, avoid scratching, keep fingernails short, gently clean and cover affected areas as advised, and do not share towels, clothing, razors, or bedding. Wash frequently handled personal items and complete prescribed treatment. Follow your clinician's advice about returning to school, childcare, work, or sports.
