You may think there is only one type of impetigo. This contagious bacterial skin infection, however, can appear in several forms.
The principal forms are nonbullous impetigo, bullous impetigo, and ecthyma. Their appearance and depth can differ, so a healthcare professional may need to examine the skin before recommending treatment.
