How Is Impetigo Treated?
Impetigo can usually be treated effectively once it is recognized. Treatment also helps reduce its spread to other people.
A clinician may prescribe an antibiotic cream for limited disease or an oral antibiotic when lesions are numerous, widespread, bullous, or otherwise require systemic treatment. The correct medicine depends on the clinical circumstances and local antibiotic-resistance patterns.
